DAY 8 - 09/10/2017

October 9 22 to 20°

This last stop over was the worst hotel room we have seen so far (it is also the cheapest). I will not be booking a motel 6 room again - the room was so small and it just felt dirty...

We were all up and out as soon as we could this was around 09:00 and we went into the town which was “Monterey” we were looking for something to eat but got to the coast line at the Pacific Grove and this was just East of "lovers point park" and we fell in love with the views…

We continued anticlockwise around the bay up to Ocean View Blvd. and then around to Sunset Drive by the time we checked the map I could see we were close to Pebble Beach and the 17 mile drive so we paid the $10.25 and took the trail.

Because we missed so much of Highway one it was really nice to see more of the coast and it was amazing and we couldn’t get enough of the coastline, power of the sea, the beautiful houses, animals and the huge powerful waves and on top of this the golf courses...

We left 17 miles at the south so that we could drive into "Carmel on the sea" and get some lunch. On the way out of 17 miles there was a very nice beach were I just had to stop this was called "Carmel Beach"

The beach had a beautiful white sand, powerful waves and a great view of the pebble Beach Golf links

Maj-Britt and the kids went and put their feet in the water and had fun...

The time is now 1 o’clock and we went into the town to get something to eat we found just a 30 minute parking spot so we had to grab some sandwiches etc. to eat in the car. The town was very pretty and had a nice atmosphere, very peaceful and a slow pace... the streets were made up with squares with trees lining every street.

Now we are heading back to Highway 1 and North up to San Francisco where we had planned to stop at Santa Cruz but time was pushing and we thought it would be best for the kids to drive straight to San Francisco.

The drive was again different from what we’ve seen before - very big mountings on the west side  and at one point we were driving up and down part of a mountain with very winding roads and the roads into San Francisco were traffic free and we were soon at the next hotel "Zephyr"

After we had checked in and took the bags to the room we rested a short time and then we went out over to Pier 39 to get some food.

The sun on the way down was actually a bright red colour... very strange and I am still unsure why ? Maybe it was the wild fires to the North ?

Isabella was very tired by this time so it had to be something quick so we found a pancake house and took this option - quick and simple then back to the hotel to recharge and get ready for tomorrow.
