We had a lazy start to the day and when we did get up at to go out we jumped into the car and drove to Alamo Square to see the painted ladies. It was a very hilly park but it had some nice views over some parts of the city. The houses were nice to see...
From here we went down to Haight Ashbury where we got some brunch at a local café called "Coffee for the people".
We parked at the Buena Vista Park.
There were lots of homeless hippy types from the second we got out of the car and there was also a police presence on the streets, it was a "Peace & love" type of place with many "unwashed"
Even in the café where we ate there were three unwashed people and once they left the owner went over with some spray to clean the area for the next people... I don’t know if it was just a smelly spray or something to kill bugs
We walked a short way up and down the street and then back to the car.
The next stop was a drive-through the golden gate park to see what it had to offer.
It was not so much of a "park" but to drive through an area with grass and trees. we stopped at the end of the park with the Dutch Windmill by the ocean and then went to the Japanese tea garden.
The gardens were really beautiful with a lot of tourists but it was worth the entrance fee and I think the kids liked it.
The next stop was twin peaks and Emil and I walked up one of the peaks and at the top it was really windy but had great views over the whole of San Francisco. It was really clear and nice to look over the whole city in 360° then around the corner we had the tourist area where we also took some great pictures
By this time the kids were tired and went back to the hotel via the zigzag road again to have another look... there were still a lot of tourists around.
We ate again at the Wipeout Bar and Grill and had a nice meal and my first beer of the trip which was in LA IPA - It tasted great :)
We completed most of our list for San Francisco :)
I still like LA better but it was nice to see lots of hills and a more relaxed pace of life
Tomorrow we will drive in the morning out of San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge
