Day 3
Today was the first day that we could really get down to the pool and relax.
This is what the kids have been waiting for...
They loved the pool and it was nice to see them playing together.
After lunch we were up to the room to relax with the kids because they were tired after a full morning in the pool... They needed a bit of downtime so took to their iPads.
At this time I broke out of the hotel and took a short walk down into the town. We were unsure how far away the shops were so this was the chance to look and see if Isabella could make the trip another day...
Emil wanted to come with me so we got our things together and headed out...
Our route was not planned as we were unsure what was close by but from the above blue line on the map you can see where we ended up.
Below is a visual walk in photos:
After the passing of my father in 2015 it was clear to me that we should never wait for tomorrow and see what it brings but we should live for today and make it what we want it to be... In this blog I will document the travel adventures that we take as a small family of 4 living in Denmark - from the planning, decision making and all the stress / happiness / fun that comes with it :)

Day 2
At Breakfast we made the decision to hire a car... se always said before we came that we wanted a car for a day or two... and now that the weather was not great we took this as the green light to get a car...
They had car hire at the hotel in the morning between 09:00 - 10:00
Asked what was available and if we could have 2 days... there was only 1 car available for the 1 day
So that was it... we asked for a larger car and got a BMW 7 person car... it was not cleaned from the last hire so it was a little sandy but nothing to worry about... we got it for a cheaper price.
We got our things together and set off for the day.
Asking at the Hotel what was the best to see in a single day in a car and we had 3 things in mind:
A visit to the caves
A visit to a market
A visit to the East coast
Our first stop of the day was to "Cuevas Del Drach"
Cuevas del drach
The caves were open in groups so that they could control the amount of people down there... but even with this there were far to many people down there... We were in the first group of the day at 11:00 and from the start to the finish we were all just pushed along with the flow... unable to stop for even a minute...
The caves were very beautiful and the water so pure and close to the end of the caves everyone is treated to a very moving classical music concert on the water... the music in the caves was a one off sound...
Our next stop was a market in the town of Sineu
The drive was nice... relaxing country roads
We found the center of the town and the market without any problems... We parked the car and went for a walk...
A very nice town.
The last planned stop was to see the east coast just below Alcúdia... We found a point on the cars map and headed over...
I think that the place was called "Can Picafort"
We parked up and walked over to the beach... This was what I was hoping for from Mallorca...
This was the place to be... Beautiful beach, sea and views
We stopped off here for an hour or so... we sat at the Beach bar while the kids enjoyed the sea. They loved the water and spent the whole time jumping in the waves...
The way back to the hotel we took as much of the coast as we could... The drive back was really nice and we stopped off at many locations just to take a quick look...

Day 1
Early start - up at around 04:00 and to the airport ready for the 07:00 flight... All went to plan & kids were really good.
Flight was fine and only 3.5 hours
Emil was a little upset as he was so excited and this made him not feel too good but by the time we landed all was ok and everyone was ready for the week ahead :)
We landed and the weather was gloomy with a little rain... Not a great start.
The bus to the hotel was about 50 minutes so a little time to relax and see Mallorca.
Mallorca did not look a great place on first sight... due to the rain, low temperature (20-22) and run down nature of the towns and buildings on the way...
When we got to the hotel and found our room things looked a little better as the room was nice and clean with views over the pool and sea.
A large apartment with 2 bedrooms, living area, kitchen area and 2 bathrooms - we had chosen the apartment in the main part of the hotel so that it would be easy to eat with the kids... living in the other parts of the hotel would have been a problem when the kids were tired at meal times.
We spent the rest of the day just relaxing and the kids and I took a short walk down to the sea to check out the coast line... to try to get a better first day impression of the island but it did not make it better...
The beach was not to be used and was very dirty and smelly
We ended the long day looking forward to better days...
Weather outlook for the week..
Wednesday - Overcast 20
Thursday to Sunday - Sunny 25 - 28
Monday - Thunder 22
Tuesday - Sunny 28

We are back... Back from Mallorca and back with a new post to update the blog...
We spent 7 days on the Spanish island from the 30/05 - 06/06 (2017)
I brought a new camera (used) before the holiday as I want to take some good quality photos for the USA trip in October.
Thinking that my iPhone 6 and its camera is not up to the job for this...
We have never invested in a good camera before.. we have always had "point and shoot" camera's that can just do the job...
After a little research on used cameras I went for the Nikon D5000 - a basic good camera for an OK price.
Just looking at cameras for the first time on the net I have to say that I was a little lost in the whole subject (and still am) I was looking a reviews and blogs only to find my eyes could not tell the difference between the "side by side" shots that show the good and bad photos - They all looked good to me. I think that you need to know what you are looking at before you can see the differences...
I found a camera from a private person who had the camera from new in 2010 to take photos of their children.
The shutter count was under 4500 so only 4% of the life.
I printed out and read some of the manual before we left so that I could take it with me to Mallorca to get some in the field practise under my belt. I am thinking that I can find out the photos that do not come out so good and then read how to correct these types of photo and then practise to make them better...
Over 700 photos later I now have to upload them and see what photos make it to the final cut and uploaded onto the blog.
I will take the next few days to write and show the 7 days of Mallorca in all its glory - day by day
